Coordinator for 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch Center

Job Description:
A full-time Emergency Dispatch Coordinator in a small community situated between the City of Chicago and O’Hare Airport. The new position is part of the Police Department and will focus on the operation of the 9-1-1 Emergency Dispatch Center.
Duties:
The 9-1-1 Coordinator will work with the Administrative Sergeant, supervised by the Director of Police. The 9-1-1 Coordinator will be a working supervisor who provides supervision for the Emergency Dispatch Center. Duties shall include, but not be limited to, receiving, screening and assigning police, fire and EMS emergency and non-emergency calls, scheduling of dispatch staff, overseeing L.E.A.D.S. and warrant entries, maintaining dispatch center records, performing as liaison with public safety equipment and repair vendors, and overseeing the maintenance of the dispatch center computer system.
Experience Strongly Preferred: Two or more years of public safety dispatch experience.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Must have high school diploma and be L.E.A.D.S. and EMD Certified. Advanced computer skills needed. Must be very organized and be able to manage complex issues. Applicant must have professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and leadership qualities. Background check, drug and other testing are also required.
Salary: Mid-to-High 40’s DOQ.
