Illinois Tollway Plans to Close Irving Park Ramps in Early JULY! UPDATED

Illinois Tollway Logo

In a recent meeting between Illinois Tollway and representatives of the Village, the engineers for the Tollway indicated that construction is slated to begin on the portion of the I-294 within Schiller Park in June. The work will be done on the inside shoulders and lanes this year. One major item came out during the discussion:

BOTH RAMPS FROM IRVING PARK ROAD TO NORTHBOUND I-294 WILL BE CLOSED BEGINNING IN THE MIDDLE OF JUNE (Now Early July) AND WILL REMAIN SO UNTIL NOVEMBER.

The detour for traffic will be from Irving Park Road to northbound Mannheim Road, then to Eastbound I-190 (Away from the Airport), then to I-294 and/or I-90. Our understanding at this time is that the southbound I-294 to Irving Park Road ramps will remain open.

This information and the approximate dates are subject to change but clearly represents plans that will substantially disrupt the travel of many of our residents. The Village will keep everyone posted on developments regarding this issue and will post updates when available on the Village website and Facebook pages. If you have questions please contact the Village at (847) 678-2550.
