Dooley Park Construction Update

A sign reading "Dooley Park."

As you may have noticed, there is construction going on at Dooley Park. The Tollway has taken a temporary easement encompassing most of the park for the staging of their equipment during the current Tollway expansion project. In return for the temporary construction easement the Village is receiving substantial funds to completely renovate and rebuild the park including the landscaping, amenities, play equipment, and green-space including the replacement of trees. The renovation of Dooley Park will begin after the Tollway project is completed.

While we regret the temporary inconvenience that the Tollway construction is causing, the Village is excited for the opportunity to thoroughly upgrade and modernize Dooley Park for our residents.

UPDATED 6/24/2019

Village officials continue to monitor progress on the Tollway Expansion Project along 294.  A section of Dooley Park has been temporarily closed as work in the area is being performed.  However, the front section of playground equipment designed for 2-5 year old children, has remained opened.

Recreation Director John Bealer has worked with a Landscape Architect to design a plan for redeveloping the park at the conclusion of the project.  Much of the current play equipment and park amenities were aging and nearing the point of needing replacement.  Director Bealer stated that while the construction is causing a temporary inconvenience, the outcome will include an exciting new park with a modern design that will meet all current ADA Accessibility and Safety Guidelines!
