Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4)

As a result of amendments to the Clean Water Act in 1987, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) initiated a program in which they assumed authority over the management of Stormwater. In 2003, the program was expanded further to include small municipalities (MS4) including the Village of Schiller Park. As set forth by the EPA, the goal of the program is to reduce the amount of pollutants in stormwater runoff. Since an informed public is important to achieving this goal the Village encourages residents to visit the below link and explore what they can do to help protect our waterways.

Combined Sewer Overflows (CSO)

The Village of Schiller Park participates in a program with the Illinois EPA and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) to monitor its Combined Sewer Overflows and provide public notification.
