Q: Can I view the Village Code online?
A: Yes, the Village Code is available online - you can view it by clicking here.

Q: Does the Village offer a calendar?
A: Yes, the Village offers a free calendar while supplies last at the Village Hall, Recreation Center, Community Development Department, and the Library. The calendars are usually available starting in late November. The Village Calendar contains important dates regarding Village services (such as yard waste pickup and street sweeping) and information pages with general information and phone numbers.

Q: Does the Village have a Historical Commission?
A: Yes, the Village has an active and vibrant Historical Commission made up of dedicated volunteers. They are always looking for volunteers to help them in their efforts. For more information about the Historical Commission please click here.

Q: Does the Village have an email newsletter?
A: Yes, the Village has a monthly email newsletter than can be subscribed to by emailing a request for joining to enews@villageofschillerpark.com. You may also click here to subscribe.

Q: Does the Village accept Credit Cards?
A: Yes, credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express) are currently accepted at all Village offices. At this time payments are not accepted over the phone. Online payment of water bills and vehicle stickers, using a credit card is now available, please click here to visit the "Online Payments" page for more information.

Q: How many people live in Schiller Park?
A: 11,850 people live in Schiller Park as of the 2000 census. A new census is scheduled for 2010 and a new population number will be determined after that tally is complete. It is important for every resident of the Village to be counted as part of the 2010 Census because some State and Federal funds are determined based on population. Q: I have pothole in front of my house or business - what should I do?
A: If your street is controlled by the Illinois Department of Transportation (i.e. Irving Park Road, Mannheim Road, Lawrence Avenue, or River Road) you should contact IDOT by visiting their website by clicking here or by calling them at 1-800-452-4368. If your street is a Village street you should call the Public Works Deparment by calling (847) 671-8554 or using the contact us page by clicking here.

Q: I want to have a Garage Sale do I need a permit?
A: Yes, permits for Garage Sales are required. Each Garage Sale is limited to 3 consecutive days. Applications are available at Village Hall or by clicking here. There is no cost for the permit but residences are limited to 2 per year.

Q: Is there a charitable Food Pantry that serves the Village?
A: Yes, Leyden Township maintains one and offers other types of assistance as well. You can reach Leyden Township’s website by clicking here or you may call them at 847-455-8616.

Q: Is there somewhere I can get assistance with my heating bill?
A: Yes, heating payment assistance is available to Village residents through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). You can access information on this program by clicking here.

Q: My property taxes went up, What should I do?
A: The Village is not involved in setting your rate but does receive approximately 18% of your property taxes. There are many steps in the property tax process. The majority of property tax issues are handled by the Leyden Township Assessor’s office or the Cook County Assessor. You can find the Leyden Township website by clicking here.

Q: What are hours for Village Hall?
A: The Village Hall is located at 9526 W. Irving Park Road on the north side of the street just east of the railroad viaduct. The phone number is (847) 678-2550. The Village Hall is open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday to Friday. The Village Hall is also open 9:00 AM to Noon on Saturdays.

Q: What Holidays is the Village closed?
A: The following holidays are observed and Village Offices will be closed: New Years Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, National and Local Election Days, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Friday After Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Q: What methods of payment are acceptable at the Village?
A: The Village accepts cash, check, and credit card. The Village accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards. The Village Hall drop box for payments can only be used by those paying with a check. At this time, payments are accepted on-line for vehicle stickers, water bills, and parking tickets. You can access the "Online Payments" system by clicking here. Payments with credit cards are not accepted over the phone.

Q: What should I know if I’m a new resident in Schiller Park?
A: If you have just moved into Schiller Park there are a number of things you should be aware of. For example you will need to get a vehicle sticker for your vehicle(s). You can find a welcome letter from the Village by clicking here. In addition the Village has welcome packets available at the Village Hall that contain a lot of helpful information. You can come by the Village Hall to pick one up or if you prefer we can mail one to you, just call (847) 678-2550 to request one.

Q: What should I do if my basement flooded?
A: There are a number of recommended steps for a homeowner faced with basement flooding. The Village has created a handout for residents containing some basic advice, you can download the handout by clicking here.

Q: Where should the required notices of foreclosure initiaton and completion be sent?
A: The Clerk's Office is the desginated municipal office in the Village where the required legal notices regarding foreclosure proceedings should be sent. The correct address is:  Office of the Village Clerk, Foreclosure Notifications, 9526 W. Irving Park Road, Schiller Park, IL 60176.
