Village Sewer Cleaning & Repair Update

1/28/2010

Last year the Village cleaned and televised all of the sanitary and storm sewers in the area north of Irving Park, south of Lawrence and east of the railroad tracks. As a result of the televising, which is designed to find flaws or problems in the pipes that can otherwise not be seen, the systems were found to be in good condition, with only about 150 feet of minor repairs needed out of a total of 20,000 feet inspected. The Mayor and Village Board then authorized miscellaneous repair work to fix the minor problems found at different points within the area. That work has now been completed, with the exception of some work on River Road, which is awaiting permit approval from the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
The Mayor and Village Board also authorized cleaning and televising of all sanitary sewers in the area of town south of Irving Park Road, west of 25th Avenue and north of Ivanhoe Avenue. That work is also nearly complete.
The Village believes that this work will make sure the system in these areas work at or near maximum capacity. It is the Village’s goal to continue this program in other areas of town in the future. The primary goal is to improve storm drainage so as to reduce the possibility of sanitary sewer back-ups. If you have questions regarding this project please contact the Village Hall at (847) 678-2550.
