ComEd Launches Helping Hand Program
3/10/2010
Program Offers eligible customers 50% credit on outstanding bills
ComEd has launched its “Helping Hand” program which is designed to help customers hardest hit by the economic downturn. The program will pay ½ the outstanding balances for eligible customers that are facing a recent or pending service interruption due to a financial hardship.
To be eligible a customer must have received a disconnection notice within the last 120 days and have also experienced a financial or medical hardship. $1 million will be made available to those customers who pay 50% of their balance to have the other 50% forgiven by ComEd. The “Helping Program” is a one-time opportunity for customers most affected by the financial downturn to help keep their power on and regain the ability to successfully manage their electric bills.
This is part of ComEd effort to help their customers during this difficult time. For instance last year ComEd distributed $15.5 million in assistance to 75,000 customers through its CARE programs. You can contact ComEd about the “Helping Hand” program by calling them at (888) 806-CARE. If you are interested please contact ComEd soon as the program is only open for a limited time.
