-Other

-          Lt. Mandziara began fire prevention month activities, visiting each Schiller Park classroom to deliver a fire safety message.

-          Foreign fire insurance tax monies were received totaling $12,441.80. 

-          Chief Deegan coordinated the Village employee flu shot program.    

-          Shift personnel participated in fire station tours for 4 kindergarten classes.

-          FF Scot Anderson sustained a duty related injury on May 18.  He returned to full duty on November 17.

-          FF Joe Hanlon sustained a duty related injury on November 12.  He returned to duty on November 15.

-          PM Michael Jenkins sustained a non-duty related injury found during his semi-annual physical examination, and began medical leave on October 16.   He is expected to be off work for 8 weeks recovering from surgery.

-          The Fire Department is collecting toys for the US Marine Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.

-          Through the work of Lt. Leiser, a new 9500 HR treadmill was donated to the Fire Department by Life Fitness in Franklin Park.  The retail value of this treadmill is $6999.

-          Chief Deegan coordinated and attended the quarterly joint meeting of the area Police and Fire Chiefs

-          Chief Deegan, EMS Coordinator Nosek, and Lt. Chiodo attended the Northwest Community Hospital 29th anniversary dinner.

-          Chief Deegan attended the Leyden Area United Way monthly meeting.

-          Chief Deegan attended the Chief/Administrators meeting for the Northwest Community Hospital EMS System.

-          Department personnel participated in a final tribute to Retired Firefighter George Kubalewski who passed away on November 26.

-          During dispatch communication problems it was determined that a new radio antenna was needed for the fire band.  A new antenna was installed during the month.

-          Chief Deegan attended the Illinois Professional Firefighters Annual Pension seminar.

-          FF Murbach attended the Strike Force meeting in Norwood Park on methadone lab fires.

-          Chief Deegan and EMS Coordinator attended the FBI seminar on Bio-terrorism.

-          FF Anderson attended the Fire Service Institute Module III class in Fire Investigation.  This is part of the Office of the State Fire Marshals program.

-          FF/PM Chung was certified by the State Fire Marshal as a Fire Prevention Officer.

-          Chief Deegan and Lt. Jeffrey attended the Illinois Emergency Management Agency seminar on Damage Assessment.

-          FF/PM Maleady received his Firefighter III certificate after the required time on the job.

-          FF/PM Cesaretti attended the Instructor I class through the Illinois Fire Chiefs.

-         FF/PM Weingart attended the Firefighter III practical class in Franklin Park.  He will take the written test shortly.

-         The Illinois Department of Public Health inspected all of the village ambulances in order to assure they meet equipment requirements mandated by the state.  All three vehicles passed the inspections, with zero deficiencies.
