 -Participated in the wake and funeral for River Grove Fire Chief, Alan Utter.

 -Purchased and put in service a containment pool for hazardous materials   spills. 

 -The quarterly air quality test was completed on the air compressor, and the   unit continues to provide good quality breathing air for firefighters.

 -The current eligibility list for Firefighter/Paramedic has been exhausted without finding a new candidate to fill the vacancy created by the   retirement of Chuck Koenig.  A new recruitment and testing process is   currently under way, but personnel on overtime will continue to be needed   well into November, while the Fire and Police Commission completes their testing.

 -Completed a regular fire hydrant documentation, maintenance and inspection program.  All hydrants in Schiller Park have now been tested, maintained and documented within the past 12 months.

 -Required annual hose testing is being conducted during the months of June and July to verify the integrity of our fire hoses.

 -A ride home in Truck 454 on the last day of school for the “Name the Truck” contest winner.

 -Truck 454 participated in the Northlake Days Parade.

 -Senior Citizen blood pressure screenings at the Community Center.

 -Paramedics began using the new version of the paramedic reporting software that went in service during the month.  New computers were placed in service on the ambulances as a part of this process.

 -The department completed research and development testing of pediatric backboards.  New pediatric backboards were placed in service in both ambulances as a result of this testing process.

 -The EMS Coordinator finalized details of the new in-field cardiac treatment program.  Paramedics began training on these new procedures.  The first phase of this field research study is planned to commence in July.  Schiller Park is one of just a few departments in the country to participate.  Preparations are taking place to inform the public about this program before phase two occurs.

 -FF/PM Knuth completed a Vertical II class in Broadview.

 -FF/PM Knuth received his Urban Search and Rescue certificate.

 -PM Doucet passed his Hazardous Materials Awareness State exam through the State Fire Marshal.

 -Lt. Mandziara and Lt. Jeffrey attended the seminar Negativity in the   Workplace.

-All Paid-on-Call attended the O’Hare live fire training.
